AUSTRALIAN GAS ASSOCIATION
The Australian Gas Association (AGA) is a not-for-profit, member-based organization established to support Australian industries and businesses through the provision of high-quality product certification, laboratory testing, and product development services in the gas, plumbing, electrical, and whitegoods sectors. With origins dating back to 1925, AGA boasts a rich history in product certification, including the formation of the National Gas Association (NGA) and the first gas appliance codes authored by the NGA.
In 1962, the NGA and the Australian Gas Institute merged to form AGA, which has since earned international recognition for its commitment to consumer safety and technical expertise. Over the years, AGA has expanded its range of product certification services to encompass plumbing, electrical, and whitegoods products, all recognized by relevant State and Territory Regulatory Authorities.
AGA is dedicated to supporting industry efforts to improve product safety, reliability, and environmental performance, ultimately benefiting the Australian community. The association also offers technical expertise and testing facilities to aid government and regulatory authorities in investigating safety-related incidents or devising strategies to enhance consumer safety.
AGA's laboratory and product certification services adhere to international benchmark standards, namely ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17065, and are monitored by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and the Joint Accreditation System for Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ). While accreditation to these international standards is crucial, AGA's unwavering commitment to consumer safety, customer service, and technical expertise sets the organization apart.
